As a responsible domiciliary and home care provider, we recognise that our operations, transport, and energy use have an impact on the environment. We are committed to continuous improvement in reducing our carbon footprint across all areas of our business — from our offices and transport to our digital and supply chain practices.
Our approach aligns with the principles of the UK Government’s Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap.

3. Scope of Reporting and Organisational Boundary
This Carbon Reduction Plan covers emissions associated with:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from company-owned vehicles (fleet used for care visits) and gas heating in office premises.
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity used within office facilities.
- Scope 3: Indirect emissions related to business travel, employee commuting, waste generation, and purchased goods and services.
All emissions data and reduction measures are based on UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting.
4. Baseline Emissions Footprint (2023 Baseline Year)
As a small healthcare provider, 2023 is the first year that P&N Healthcare Services Ltd has formally measured its carbon footprint.
The baseline year provides a reference point against which future reductions will be measured.
Emission Scope | Source | Baseline Emissions (tCO₂e) | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Scope 1 | Company vehicles, gas heating | 8.2 | Emissions from fuel use and gas consumption |
Scope 2 | Electricity use | 3.5 | Office energy consumption |
Scope 3 | Employee commuting, waste, supply chain | 4.1 | Indirect activities |
Total | 15.8 tCO₂e | Baseline year: 2023 |
5. Current Emission Reduction Measures
Since the baseline year, P&N Healthcare Services Ltd has implemented several initiatives to reduce carbon emissions:
- Fleet management: Introduction of fuel-efficient vehicles and route optimisation to reduce travel distances.
- Hybrid working: Staff administrative functions can work remotely, reducing commuting emissions.
- Digital transformation: Implementation of digital care management and record-keeping systems, reducing paper usage and physical file storage.
- Energy efficiency: Upgraded office lighting to LED and implemented “switch off” policies for all electronic devices.
- Recycling initiatives: Office waste segregated into recycling streams and reduced single-use plastics.
- Supplier engagement: Preference for local suppliers and those with sustainable practices.
As a result of these measures, we estimate a 7% reduction in total emissions from the 2023 baseline.
6. Planned Carbon Reduction Initiatives
To continue progress towards Net Zero by 2035, the following measures are planned:

- Install EV charging points at office locations where feasible.
- Introduce staff car-share and low-emission vehicle incentive schemes.
- Conduct staff training on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Begin carbon footprint tracking using annual reporting tools.
Medium-Term (2028–2031)
- Transition to 100% renewable electricity supply for both office sites.
- Phase out remaining petrol/diesel fleet vehicles.
- Implement remote monitoring for energy use in offices.
- Continue to digitise all paper-based processes.
- Review supply chain partners to prioritise low-carbon goods and services.
Long-Term (2032–2035)
- Achieve full transition to zero-emission fleet.
- Offset any residual emissions through verified carbon offsetting schemes.
- Review office locations for potential consolidation into energy-efficient premises.
- Maintain ISO 14001-aligned environmental management system with annual audits.
7. Carbon Reduction Targets
